Abstract

1299270 Spark erosion A P PEDRICK 23 Oct 1970 Heading B3V An apparatus for making very small (e.g. 5À5 Î 10<SP>-5</SP> cm. diameter) holes in a plate, e.g. to produce a "light screen" as described in Specification 1,206,260, employs a spark gap between electrodes 16, 17 set up in an evacuated space 22 subjected to a magnetic field produced by like, and therefore mutually repelling, magnetic poles. The Specification contains an account of a theory of magnetism in which it is asserted that the apparent repulsive forces existing between like magnetic poles are not true forces of magnetic repulsion. This theory, explaining the phenomenon along gravitational lines and in terms of the "true atom" theory contained in Specification 1,206,260, is the basis for the design of the present small-hole spark-perforating apparatus.
