Abstract

1299267 Furniture joints DICKSON SMITH Inc 10 July 1970 [10 July 1969] 33669/70 Headings A4B and A4H A cabinet assembly has a wall 150, at least a pair of U-shaped channel rails 172, 174 adapted to be secured at one end over an opening in the wall, and substantially normal to the faces of the wall, connector 160 passing through the opening having plate means 158, 168 adjacent the ends and retainer 162, 164 for drawing the plates and the ends axially together, and holding means for holding the rails against rotational motion or motion in the plane of the wall. The retainer may include cam member 162 having threaded insert 164 for receiving an end of threaded stud 160. The end of stud 160 passing through plate 158 has a nut screwed on to it or has an integral bolt head. The opposed walls of U-shaped members may project at the ends, and these projections engage slots in the wall member to provide the holding means. Alternatively, the edges may be formed with knife edges, and be pulled into ridges on the walls. In either case, a cover member 154 may be secured on to the front edge to provide further holding means. Shelves, drawers &c may be supported in the assembly on projections formed by members held by the holes shown in the wall member.
