Abstract

1298714 Vehicle luggage racks HAPPICH GmbH GEB 3 Feb 1970 [7 Feb 1969] 5014/70 Heading B7J A luggage rack comprises two parallel rails 2 interconnected by at least two pairs of parallel bars 3, the bars of each pair being rigidly connected by transverse members 17 which have extensions 18, the extensions being received as a close fit in sockets 19 provided in the adjacent bar of the adjacent pair of bars. Each rail is provided with a longitudinal groove 5 in which the hook-shaped ends 15 of the bars are received and held in position by a wedging strip 16. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 2 not shown, the rails are provided with equispaced apertures and each end of the bars has a compressible tapered portion with an annular recess at the base of the taper so that during assembly the edges of the aperture compress the tapered portion and finally lockingly engage the recess. The bars preferably comprises a synthetic plastics material.
