1298705 Photographic silver halide materials KONISHIROKU PHOTO INDUSTRY CO Ltd 27 May 1970 [28 May 1969] 25489/70 Heading G2C [Also in Division C2] An anti-spotting agent for a light-sensitive silver halide photographic material comprises a compound of the formula: wherein m is 0 or 1; p is 1 to 6; M is hydrogen, an alkali metal, an ammonium or organic amine cation; R 1 is a substituted or unsubstituted aliphatic aromatic, alicyclic or heterocyclic group; R 3 and R 4 are hydrogen atoms or methyl groups, at least one being a hydrogen atom; and R 2 is a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, except than when p=1, R 2 is a group of the formula: wherein Y is a divalent organic group and R 1 ', R 3 ', R 4 ', m' and M' have the same meanings as R 1 , R 3 , R 4 , m and M. (see Division C2). The compounds may be used either singly or in admixture and are preferably incorporated in the silver halide emulsion layer in an amount of from 1x10<SP>-4</SP> to 1x10<SP>-1</SP> mols per mol of silver halide, or into a sub-layer, inter-layer or protective layer in an amount of from 5x10<SP>-6</SP> to 1x10<SP>-2</SP>mols per sq.m.
