Abstract

1297663 Releasable fastenings F T PRODUCTS Ltd 26 March 1970 [28 March 1969] 14839/70 Divided out of 1296677 Heading E2B A fastener for attaching an elongate article 30 to an apertured support 32 comprises a body portion 11 having or carrying means 12 for attaching the body portion to the support and a substantially U-shaped arm 15 projecting from the body portion and adapted to receive the elongate article wherein the open mouth of the arm is positioned adjacent the body portion and a wing 26 is hingedly attached to the body portion so as to be movable into and away from a closing position in which it extends generally across the open mouth of the substantially U-shaped arm and substantially closes the said mouth the arrangement being such that -when the fastener is attached to the support the wing is engaged by the outer surface of the support and is thereby moved upwardly into the closing position. In the fastener shown there are two U- shaped arms projecting from opposite sides of the body portion and two wings so that two elongate articles can be attached to the support. The means for attaching the body portion to the support is a shank which has two resilient tongues 17 and 18 joined by a central web 19 so that the shank is resilient, the tongues are formed with sloping shoulders 20 and 21 and the tip 22 of a shank is rounded. A skirt 14 surrounds the upper end portion of the shank to form a seal against the outer surface of the support. The shank can be omitted the body portion then having a key hole shaped slot to engage a headed stud. The shank can alternatively be replaced by a drive pin type of stud.
