Abstract

1291142 Rotary cutters for maize &c. MASCHINENFABRIK FAHR A G 4 Aug 1970 [9 Aug 1969] 37495/70 Heading A4C [Also in Division A1] In a maize harvester (see Division A1) the maize cobs are separated from the stalks by rollers 2, while the stalks are cut from the ground by blades 7. The maize stalks pass into the path of chaff cutters 8, attached to two drums 6 mounted side-by-side, and are comminuted. The drums 6 rotate in opposite directions, and the cutters 8 may be rigidly attached, suspended freely in pendulum fashion, or pivotally controlled on the circumference of the drum. In another embodiment Fig. 4 (not shown) there is a single rotating drum whose cutters co-operate with the rigid cutters of a fixed plate.
