Abstract

This harvesting machine ensures that stalks or stems and other parts of a plant follow separate paths through the machine during the harvesting operation. The stems are fed through two stalk distributors (5 and 6) to four cutters (11-14) and to a countercutter (8). Inner guide plates (7) of the stalk distributors (5, 6) pick up the plant parts located above the stems. The stems are thereby lifted separately into the drawing-in position in front of two drawing-in rollers (2, 3), whilst the other plant parts are drawn freely into a drawing-in gap between the conveying rollers (9 and 10) and are then fed to the drawing-in rollers (2, 3). The plants thereafter pass into a cutter drum, where they are cut and comminuted. The chopped crop passes through a discharge tube (4) into the loading space of a transport vehicle. A machine of this type is suitable, for example, for the harvesting of maize plants, the cobs not being wasted because they are drawn in together with the remaining plant parts, that is to say without the stems.
