Abstract

An apparatus for picking up, cutting off and conveying stalked crops, in particular maize, grown in two rows, to the pre-pressing-, in- feed- or chopping means of a harvesting machine, comprises two contra-rotating conveying drums 2, 3 provided on at least a portion of their outer surfaces with projections and defining an inlet gap for the crop, outer row dividers 9, 9'' and an inner row divider 9', and cutting means for the stalked crop, wherein a conveying drum 1 is arranged upstream and asymmetrically to drums 2, 3 and is provided on its periphery with projections which partly overlap the rotational path of drum 2 and are guided along a portion of the interior surface 4 of outer row divider 9. Arrangements are disclosed of the above construction for harvesting more than two rows of crop. <IMAGE>
