Abstract

1288574 Reciprocating pumps CESSNA AIRCRAFT CO 16 Sept 1969 [9 Oct 1968] 45474/69 Heading F1A In a variable displacement swash-plate pump or motor, the swash-plate 20 is pivotally mounted in bores 13 in the housing 10 by means of trunnions 22 formed or mounted on the plate before assembly into the body. The plate is introduced into the body with the trunnions aligned with the longitudinal axis of the body, and then rotated so that the trunnions are sequentially fitted into the respective bores which are of greater cross-sectional area than the trunnions. Bearing cups 27, containing needle bearings 25 and sealing rings 26, are pressed into the bores about the trunnions, and further seals 30 and retaining snap rings 33 are provided about the cups. Notches 36 are provided on the cups to vary the plate angle. A bearing cup having a closed outer end may be used, Fig. 5 (not shown). The bearing cups 2, 7 are supported by arcuate concave support surfaces formed by the housing at 34 and co-extensive with each bore, the surfaces facing the opening 17 in the housing to allow insertion of the trunnions into the bores.
