Abstract

[Also in Division G3] In a tilted head pump the delivery pressure may be varied by a regulating plate 15 which is angularly adjustable relative to the cylinder block 2 and is provided with a groove 16 connected to lowpressure channels 31 and extending over a circular arc of at most 180 degrees and with which the cylinders communicate during rotation. In the position of maximum delivery the cylinders are connected to the groove 16 only when the pistons 6 are carrying out their admission stroke and in the minimum position the cylinders are connected to the by-pass when the pistons are carrying out their discharge stroke. Shoes 17 in chambers 18 which are permanently in communication with the respective cylinder bores bear against the regulating plate 15 such that the orifices 19 therein connect with the groove 16. Admission ports 8 are provided in the cylinders 3 which open into an admission chamber 27, and delivery valves 9 comprise a spring-loaded obturator member 28, Fig.1, or a ball 28 Fig.6 which is urged towards its closed position by the action of the centrifugal force. A rotatable collector 11 is rigidly connected to the cylinder block 2 and has a delivery conduit 12 in communication with the cylinders via channels 30 and sealingly engaged with a delivery orifice 14 by a sleeve 13 which is provided with a bearing surface 21 and is rotatably maintained against a fixed annular track 22, Fig. 1. Alternatively the sleeve 13 is non-rotatable but applied against a annular track 52, Fig.6. '
