Abstract

1287290 Electric blanket DREAMLAND APPLIANCES Ltd 19 April 1971 [30 Dec 1969] 63302/69 Heading B5N An electric blanket comprises two superposed sheets 11, 12 and an electrical resistance heating element 13 disposed in runs between said sheets, each sheet comprising at least one ply of foamed plastics 14, e.g. polyurethane, polyvinyl chloride, having upstanding flock fibres 18 adhesively bonded to its external surface and the sheets being secured together by welding. One or each sheet may be reinforced by a fabric 16, e.g. an open mesh, woven net, or crossed yarns or fibres united by adhesive or cohesive bonding, the fabric being situated on either side of the foam. In an embodiment a further ply of foam 15 is applied to the face of a foam opposite the flock, a reinforcing fabric 16 being interposed between them. When a non-weldable polyurethane is used the foam may be coated with a weldable material. The flock and the reinforcing fibres may be of rayon or nylon.
