Abstract

A pliable laminated sheet comprises a pile fabric adhering at its pile to another ply, e.g. an animal skin, fur or hide, a sheet of natural or synthetic resin or a knitted, woven, bonded or felted fabric optionally having a pile or nap. The synthetic resin ply may be a polyurethane foam. Bonding may be effected by the interposing of an adhesive e.g. polyethylene, a copolyamide, a curable mixture of a polyol and a polyisocyanate or a curable epoxy resin in the form of a sheet, a melt or a solution. Alternatively one of the surfaces to be bonded may be activated by heat or a solvent prior to assembly of the components. The examples describe the bonding of a knitted nylon fabric to a skiver.
