Abstract
1285275 Adding B 4 C to molten alloys INSTITUT ELEKTROSVARKI IMENI EO PATONA AKADEMII NAUK UKR SSR 12 Nov 1970 53858/70 Heading C7D A metal charge is added to a induction furnace so that the surface level of the charged metal corresponds to the zone of maximum magnetic field concentration. After fusion, B 4 C is added to the charge and maximum mixing takes place due to the magnetic stirring effect. The rest of the metal charge is then added to the melt. A charge of Ni, Cr and Si is charged into a 400 kgm HF furnace and sufficient B 4 C was added to give 4% B after fusion. The remaining charge was then added to produce a B content of 2%.
