Abstract
1284892 I C engine inlet manifolds BAYERISCHE MOTOREN WERKE A G 28 Aug 1969 [2 Sept 1968] 42964/69 Heading F1B An induction pipe system for I.C. engines having at least one line of cylinders comprises an induction manifold 7 to which are connected branch pipes 6 in the form of separate components for connecting the manifold to the individual cylinders, each branch pipe having a 180 degree bend and being removably attached, at its respective ends only, to the manifold and to a cylinder inlet. The branch pipes 6, which are of a hard, elastic, plastics material, are connected to the manifold 7 and to inlet stub pipes 3 for the cylinders by means of pipe clips 9<SP>1</SP>, sealing rings 9 being provided. The branch pipes 6 are also laterally twisted transversely to their 180 degree bend, the two inner branch pipes being outwardly twisted to provide room for the entry pipe 10 of the manifold 7 while the two outer pipes are inwardly twisted. The length of the parallel ends 6<SP>1</SP> is such that the branch pipes 6 are attained to the pulsation conditions in the induction system.
