1284593 Microtome NGN Lid 10 Dec 1970 [16 Dec 1969] 61267/69 Heading G2J A microtome has a suspended cutter head depending from a pivoted arm 13 carried on a bearing exhibiting considerable friction such that when the ordinating arm 40 urges the blades rightwardly for a cutting strike, the blade head 34, which is pivoted at 20, is urged about pivot 20 to the extent permitted by a pin 50 via a clearance hole 52 before the blade moves on its cutting stroke. Similarly it is lifted away from the specimen on the return stroke. Line blades are provided 26, 28 as alternatives.
