Abstract

1,096,100. Lopping shears. E. M. WALLACE and W. M. PRESTON. Nov. 2, 1966, No. 49035/66. Heading B4B. Lopping shears comprise a cutting jaw 10 having a cutting edge 101, an anvil jaw 12 on which is mounted an anvil 14 having a bearing surface 20 in linear contact with the cutting edge 10<1> when the shears are closed, the jaws 10, 12 being predominantly in the same plane, a pivot 36 interconnecting the respective rear portions of the jaws, a pivot 54 interconnecting a pair of handle levers 38, 40, and a pair of pintle pins 58, 62 each interconnecting one of the jaws and the respective handle lever. The anvil 14 is adjustably and releasably fixed to the jaw 12 by a bolt 26, the anvil having a convex surface 22 riding on a concave surface 24 of the jaw 12. A stud 64 secured to the jaw 12 limits the extent of opening movement of the jaws.
