Abstract

1284105 Selective printing OLYMPIA WERKEAG 7 Nov 1969 [7 Nov 1968] 54697/69 Heading B6F In a selective printer with a continuously rotating type disc 1 (Fig. 5) mounted on a carriage, the selection system includes two electromagnets (25, 26, Fig. 3) which are selectively energized in accordance with what key (42, Fig. 6) is depressed, the timing being controlled by a commutator (Fig. 4) driven by the continuously rotating main drive shaft 13. This same shaft 13 drives via a bevel gear 11, 12, Fig. 1, a cam plate 7 and the type disc 1. Energizing one or other of the magnets 25, 26 tilts a bar 20 exteding the full line length of the machine one way or the other to operate one of a pair of levers 18 which bring one of two selection hammers 16 into the vicinity of the cams 15 carried, by the cam plate 7. The selected hammer 16 is thereby impelled against the printing hammer 17 to cause imprint with the flexible disc. Case shift of the type disc is achieved by shifting its axis of rotation.
