Abstract

1,240,604. Selective printing. SUWA SEIKOSHA K.K. 30 April, 1969 [30 April, 1968 (2); 13 May, 1968 (3)], No. 21999/69. Heading B6F. [Also in Division H2] A high-speed printer includes a hammer 1 mounted on a lever 2 which is actuated through a trigger lever 14 selectively strikable by a tooth 11 on a wheel 10. The hammer 1 cooperates with a continuously rotated print drum 4, the drum 4 and wheel 10 being synchronized such that the tooth 11 is in operative position for each character on the print drum 4. The wheel 10 may have a plurality of teeth. The trigger lever 14 is actuated by an electromagnet 26 and armature 25, which rotates the trigger lever 14 about a pin 18 so that its end 34 is in the path of the tooth 11. Repeat action is prevented firstly by provision of a projection 16 on the lever 14 which engages a stop 17 and initiates return of the lever 14 to rest position before the hammer 1 strikes the print drum, and secondly by making the cycle of action of the trigger lever take slightly longer than one rotation of the tooth 11. Line-spacing.-A roller 53 feeds paper between the hammer 1 and drum 4. The roller 53 is driven by a pawl (106, Fig. 5) reciprocated by an electromagnet (105) for each complete revolution of the print drum 4, sensed by a magnetic pulse generator rotated with the drum.
