Abstract

1333482 Typewriters LOUIS MARX & CO Inc 1 Sept 1971 [10 May 1971] 12411/73 Divided out of 1333481 Heading B6F Ink ribbon mechanism manual; reversing.-A single lever (28, Fig. 1) positions two cams 34A, 34B interconnected by a rod 29, so that one ribbon reel is driven by key action and draws in ribbon while the other is free running and feeds out ribbon. The two positions of each cam either disengages or allows engagement of a pair of pawls 39A, 39B or 39C, 39D with one or other ratchet wheels 45 which drive the reels. Each pair of pawls is mounted on a plate 38 capable of being reciprocated by upstanding arms 35 on a shaft 31. The shaft 31 is angularly displaced every time a key (22, Fig. 2) is depressed by an extension of each key lever acting on a universal bar (30) connected to the shaft 31. The space-bar (22) also displaces the shaft via linkages (22<SP>11</SP>, 88, Fig. 2).
