Abstract
1284056 Reciprocating compressors M J BERLYN 22 April 1971 [8 Sept 1970] 10781/71 Heading F1N A reciprocating piston compressor has inlet ports 9 uncovered by the piston 5 when near bottom dead centre and an annular outlet valve 13 contacted by the piston when at top dead centre. The outlet valve 13 is loaded by springs 14 and cooperates with concentric seats 8, 15 on the cylinder and a guide member 11, respectively. The guide member 11 has a water injection nozzle 17 disposed therewithin, the nozzle being supplied with water by a pump 18 driven by a cam-shaft 3. The piston 5 may be provided with a recess 16 to accomodate the end of member 11, or the outlet valve and member 11 may be modified to allow a flat piston to be used.
