Abstract

1283916 Electro-etching and plating PLESSEY CO Ltd 29 Sept 1969 [28 Sept 1968] 46174/68 Heading C7B A carbon fibre-reinforced (e. g. resin) structure for a waveguide or radar aerial dish is metal plated by electro-etching it connected as anode in an etchant e.g. H 2 SO 4 solution to roughen the surface, then electro-depositing a metal e.g. Ni or Cu on to the electro-etched structure connected as cathode in a metal plating bath. Prior to etching, the structure may be immersed in an alkaline degreaser.
