Abstract
<PICT:1005719/C6-C7/1> In electroplating articles as cathode using an anode 11 and electrolyte 13 an apertured electrically conductive member 15 of the same metal as the anode is placed near the cathode surface 12 to be plated. The conductive member 15 is preferably wire mesh, and if uniform plating is desired, is contoured to follow the surface of the cathode, to give an equipotential surface between cathode and anode. Alternatively, variations in plating thickness is achieved by using a screen not uniformly spaced from a curved cathode surface. The screen is not connected to the electrical circuit.
