Abstract

1283548 Knitting machines C TERROT SOHNE 29 Sept 1969 [16 Oct 1968] 47733/69 Heading D1C A patterning apparatus for a circular knitting machine comprises an electromagnet armature 2 which is biassed away from the electromagnet 1 by spring means 3, 4, is returned to the electromagnet by the needle jacks 5 and acts on the needle jacks in combination with a permanent magnetic field to select their associated needles either to knit or not knit as required. Armature 2 is held against electromagnet 1 when it is energized against the action of the springs 3, 4 and has a projection which, when the electromagnet is deenergized, diverts the next jack into engagement with permanent magnet 7. Unselected jacks engage permanent magnet 8 and device 9 ensures separation of the jacks. A succeeding jack presses armature 2 back against electromagnet 1 between each selection. The jacks swivel in their tricks.
