Abstract

1282979 Frames G DELBOSCO and F DELBOSCO 16 May 1970 23843/70 Headings A4H and A4X [Also in Division B6] The side members 1 of a frame for stretching a picture canvas are connected together by metal elements each comprising a pair of parallel plates 2 inter-connected by a web 4 which is equal in width to the thickness of the side members and which is accommodated in slots 2 formed in the side members. Two metal elements may be applied to each corner of a frame, which may be strengthened by cross-bars 9, 13 inter-connected by a cross-shaped metal element 24 and joined to the side members 1 by further metal elements each having a pair of plates 10 connected by a web (11) which is inserted into a slot in the cross-bar and being screwed to a side member. The frame may be slightly expanded by wedges disposed between the head of the cross-bar 9 and the adjacent side member 1 or by screw stretchers 21.
