Abstract

1282684 Automatic weapons FABBRICA D'ARMI P BERETTA SpA 21 April 1970 [29 April 1969] 18996/70 Heading F3C In an automatic weapon having a bevel 10 connected to a receiver 12, a bolt carrying carriage 31 mounted for reciprocation in the receiver 12 and a gas-driven rod 20, the rod 30 is coupled to the carriage 31 by a removable locker slider 34 which co-operates with a groove 23 in the rod 20 and an opening 33 in the carriage and which projects transversely of the receiver. The retaining of the locker slide 34 is effected by a spring-loaded lever 38 co-operating with a notch on the slide 34. A slot 12A is provided in the receiver for the passage of the slide 34 on firing the weapon. The bolt 45 is formed at its forward end with a pair of diametrically opposed locking dogs and a pin 44 the arrangement being such that on the closing of the bolt the locking dogs pass a step 28 formed in the receiver and subsequently the pin 44 which co-operates with a non- rectilinear groove 42 in the carriage 31 is rotated together with the bolt by the movement of the carriage relative to the pin 44 to bring the locking dogs behind the step 28. The carriage 31 and bolt 45 are guided in the receiver by guideways. The pin may be polygonal in cross-section such that different faces of the pin co-operate with different portions of the groove in the carriage (Fig. 11, 12, not shown). A dual purpose sight for the weapon comprises a lever 63 having a sighting aperture 65, the lever 63 being spring- loaded against a support 67. The support 67 is rotatably mounted and is provided with three faces eccentrically formed with respect to the axis of rotation so that lever 63 may be raised or lowered depending upon which face of the supports it is resting. The sight further comprises a leaf 76 having two sighting holes 78 and a sighting notch 81, the leaf being used as a sight when the weapon is adapted to fire grenades. By means of a projection on a wing of the leaf and hollows 80 in the sight mount the leaf may be held in its erected, operational state, as shown in full lines, or in its inoperative state, as shown in dash-dot lines.
