Abstract

1281501 Hydraulic pressure relieving devices MORTON TOOL CO Ltd 4 Jan 1971 [5 Jan 1970] 451/70 Heading F1P An unloader valve assembly for a hydraulic system 15 comprises a spring-loaded piston 30 normally closing a cylinder port 14 and holding a partially pressure-balanced valve 19 against a seat 20, and the system also comprises a second valve 22 normally held by an adjustable spring 24 against a seat 23 of smaller area than that of seat 20; the upstream side of both valves 19, 22 being in constant fluid connection at 16, 17, 18 with the system 15 and the downstream sides of valves 19, 22 being in constant fluid connection at 28 with the cylinder space 27. In operation a predetermined pressure rise in system 15 first unseats valve 22 and then acts against the relatively large area of piston 30 to uncover relief port 14. Valve 19 opens at this time by virtue of area of seat 20 being greater than land 36. Reclosing of port 14 and valves 19, 20 following pressure reduction at 15 is assisted by an adjustable bleed screw 33.
