Abstract
1,160,907. Hydraulic apparatus. INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CO. Nov. 10, 1966 [May 6, 1966], No. 50372/66. Heading F1P. A hydraulic system includes a pair of piston- and-cylinder units, or rams, 11, 12 that are fed with working fluid by a pump 14 through control valves 100, 200, which are mechanically coupled to manually-operated valves 300, 400, respectively, a pressure-operated by-pass valve 17 being furnished on the output side of the pump so that when the rams are rendered inoperative by the control valves the pump can be unloaded. The valve 17 is connected by a spring 31 to an actuator, or operating means, 30 to which pressure is communicated from the pump through a pipe, or line, 33 so as to close the valve whenever either of the rams is set in operation. When neither of the rams is in operation the pressure in a line 16 exceeds that in the line 33 due to frictional losses, thereby rendering the valve 17 open.
