Abstract

1329336 Hydraulic apparatus VEREINIGTE FLUGTECHNISCHE WERKE FOKKER GmbH 19 April 1971 [21 Feb 1970] 22417/71 Heading F1P [Also in Division F2] A device for locking a piston 61 in a cylinder 60 by trapping liquid in the cylinder, comprises a pair of conical valve members 30 urged by springs 34 and the pressure in the cylinder 60 into engagement with opposed seats 15, at least one floating piston 14 being slidable in a cylinder 13 between the seats. Operation of a changeover valve 55 connects chambers 24 on opposite sides of the piston 14 to pressure and exhaust, respectively. Pressure in the chambers 24 displaces the corresponding valve member 30 and also the piston 14 which thereby opens the other valve member. A cup-shaped member 33 screwed into each valve member 30 provides a seat for a normally closed spring-urged valve cone 42. The valve cones unseat on the occurrence of an excess pressure in the cylinder 60. Three floating pistons 14 may be provided, Fig. 2 (not shown) arranged so that opening pressure acts on one or other of the outer floating pistons to assist in maintaining their respective valve members open.
