Abstract

1413111 Valves DOWTY MINING EQUIPMENTLtd 26 Oct 1972 [28 Oct 1971] 50414/71 Heading F2V A valve for controlling fluid flow to a hydraulic jack comprises a body member 1 defining a service chamber 25 leading to port 9, a high pressure chamber 38 leading to port 21 and a low pressure chamber 36 leading to port 17, valve closure members 26, 27 co-operable with seats 13, 14 respectively, a high rate spring 32 acting on the low pressure valve 27 in opposition to a low rate spring 33, a piston 24 which ensures that the pressure in the chamber 38 tends to hold the high pressure valve 26 on its seat and an actuator 41 which is operable to act directly on the high rate spring and with lost motion on the high pressure valve 26 to first close the low pressure valve 27 and then open the high pressure valve 26. The actuator and spring 32 are contained in a chamber formed by the valve members which is vented to the low pressure chamber via passage 35. The actuator is connected to a piston 23 which may be manually operated via plunger 43 with the use of a suitable tool or operated with pilot pressure fed from port 42. The side 45 of the valve with the ports 42, 21, and 17 is flat to fit against a flat surface of a manifold block.
