Chain gearing; tension arrangements. - Devices for maintaining chain gearing in tension between two drums having slight relative movement, and for taking up shocks in the chain, are described. In the form shown in Fig. 8, the drum 3 is driven by a chain 34<g> and rollers 47, 47<a> mounted on links 42, 39, 39<a>, 44, 44<a> are provided to enable the chain to drive the drum while allowing the drum to move away from its driving wheel. Fig. 11 shows an arrangement in which any strains on the chain cause the rollers 17 to rotate the pivoted members 16 and compress the springs 13.
