Abstract

1281104 Pipe couplings SULZER BROS Ltd 8 May 1970 [8 May 1969] 22356/70 Heading F2G [Also in Division F1] A coupling member 2 is provided with a first internal thread 13 for connection to a pipe 1 and a second internal thread of the same hand and greater pitch for connection to a mounting member 4, the coupling being employed in the passage between a fuel pump and a combustion chamber in the injection system of an internal combustion engine. Initially, during assembly, an annular projection 15 on the coupling member abuts a shoulder 7 formed on the pipe 1 between an enlarged threaded portion 5 and a reduced end portion 8, and the coupling member 2 abuts the mounting member 4. Subsequent rotation of the coupling member 2 on to the mounting member 4 draws the mounting member and the pipe (which are both held against rotation) into abutment due to the differing thread pitches.
