Abstract

1279047 Vehicle mascots ROLLS ROYCE Ltd 25 Feb 1970 8994/70 Heading A6S [Also in Division F2] A mascot 15 is mounted on a vehicle by springs 18 connected between the base 14 of the mascot and a housing 10. These springs normally bias the mascot into the position shown, but, if the mascot is moved into the housing by a predetermined amount e.g. during a crash, the springs snap over and continue to retract the mascot into the housing. Each pair of springs constitutes a double torsion spring. An electrical or mechanical locking device may hold the mascot in position when the vehicle is stationary. The base 14 of the mascot rests against a base part 12 which falls away during retraction to the position shown chain-dotted.
