1278006 Switch contacts INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 2 Oct 1970 [7 Oct 1969] 46954/70 Heading H1N A multi-contact assembly for operation by various means such as push-buttons or electromagnets, comprises pairs of movable bridging contacts 1, Fig. 1, mounted in slots 4 of a housing 2 and yieldingly held towards the ends of the slots 4 by springs 3. Movement of the housing 2 causes one or other of each pair of bridging contacts 1A, 1B, Fig. 2, to engage a fixed pair of contacts 6A or 6B while the spring 3 yields. In a modification, the slots 4, Fig. 6, are skewed on the housing 2 whereby a sliding movement is obtained on the fixed contacts 6A, 6B following initial abutting engagement. An arrangement is also described in which the assembly is mounted within a easing carrying the fixed contacts which are bent over at their inner ends and held in position by a sliding lid (13), Fig. 7 (not shown) the terminal ends of the fixed contacts being arranged for mounting on a printed circuit board. Projections (14), Fig. 8 (not shown) may also be provided on the base of the housing to hold the casing clear of the printed circuit board (15) and prevents ingress of sealing fluid due to capillary action.
