Abstract
1,258,818. Mechanical switches. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. 16 April, 1969, No. 19348/69. Heading H1N. A manually operated lever switch comprises a pair of insulating boards 20, 30, Figs. 1, 2, carrying fixed contacts such as a-f, Fig. 5A, and moulded with the contacts facing each other for selected engagement 1 by U-shaped bridging contact springs 50 on the ends of an actuating lever 40 pivoted as at 47. The assembly together with support plates 10 is held together by eyelet rivets 60 having enlarged portions 61 to maintain the required separation. The contacts a-f and terminal strips 21 for terminals A-D may be printed circuits. The moving contacts 50 are of gold-plated phosphor-bronze strip and are either moulded in the lever 40 or inserted in slots (45), Fig. 3B (not shown). The support plates 10 have detents 13 for engagement by projections 44, Fig. 3B (not shown), on the lever 40. The plates 10 may further have arms (not shown) to provide clips for mounting the switch on a chassis wall. Steps 42a in the lever 40 engage the edges of the boards 20, 30 to provide limit stops.
