Abstract

1391348 Electric switches OAK ELECTRO/NETICS CORP 16 June 1972 [17 June 1971] 28441/72 Heading H1N A push button switch has its "fixed" contacts 36, held under tension by engagement of wings 44, with projections 50, (and a corresponding projection in housing portion 12), such that the normally open movable contact 46, when engaged by the cam 32 on the push button actuator with the contact 36, cause it to be further tensioned by movement away from the projection, thus preventing contact bounce. The contacts are angled towards the push button by slots 54, 56 in the base. A seconded pair of contacts, 64, 66 arranged to be normally closed has the fixed contact 64 under tension abutting projection 52 (and its corresponding projection in portion 12) and the movable contact 66 engaging the fixed contact also under tension to prevent "bounce". The cam on the push button, moves the contact 66 away from the fixed contact 64 as the button is depressed. The contacts may alternatively be all normally-open or all normally-closed and a plurality of contact pairs may be arranged in the switch. The switches as described above may be assembled in a U-shaped channel member 82 having integral projections 90 which locate the switches and integral spring tongues 96 which lockingly engage in recesses 98 in the switch housing. Alternatively the switches may be inserted between a pair of spring clips 106, and this assembly inserted through apertures in a plate 100 to suspend the switch above a printed circuit board 102. The switch terminals are then connected to the printed conductors.
