Abstract
1474450 Mechanical switches; fluid pressure switches STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd 5 Sept 1974 38829/74 Heading H1N An electric switch contact diaphragm comprises a resilient domed portion 20, Fig. 2, joined to one or more coaxial frusto-conical sections 201, 202 by grooved regions 204, 205. The arrangement is such that on the application of pressure as by fluid pressure at orifice 27 or by a push button (17) Fig. 1 (not shown) on a flexible strip 16 the diaphragm acts as a Belleville spring and has a reducing spring rate. The grooved regions 204, 205 engage contacts 22, 23 on a fixed base 24 which may be a printed circuit board. The diaphragm may be made of nickel-iron-chromium alloy or of beryllium copper or phosphor bronze and may be plated with hard gold on a nickel interlayer.
