Abstract

1277197 Lubricating KAL-PAC ENG Ltd 23 July 1969 [24 July 1968] 35213/68 Heading F2A [Also in Division F1] An I.C. engine comprises means to convey lubricating oil from a reservoir (93.1), Fig. 3 (not shown), to a crank-shaft driven rotor 82, Fig. 1, which distributes oil by centrifugal force through engine passages 89 which are in register with a circumferential groove 84 Fig. 2, tapering in width and depth from a shallow end to an end wall. Oil is supplied to the passages 90, 91 by wick feeds. The engine may have a doubleended power piston assembly journalled directly on a crank-pin of a crank-shaft whose ends are journalled in a charging piston assembly reciprocating in a charging cylinder which is perpendicular to the power cylinder. The oil is distributed from the passages 89 to the power and charging cylinders through passages (95, 96), Fig. 4 (not shown). Two reservoirs interconnected by passage (115) maintain constant oil flow in different engine attitudes.
