1276731 Injection moulding ceramic products C M HUTSCHENREUTHER ZAHNFABRIK ZWEIGNNIEDERLASSUNG DER C M HUTSCHENREUTHER PORZELLAN AG 10 June 1969 [20 June 1968 13 March 1969] 29411/69 Heading B5A In an injection mould for the production of a dewatered ceramic mass, at least a part 2 of the mould is formed of a heat conducting material comprising an inorganic metal filler material bound in a synthetic resin and having a porous structure comprising a capillary system produced by means of a gaseous phase evolved by the resin during setting thereof. Dewatering may be effected by applying pressure through the injected material, the discharged moisture being withdrawn through a channel 7. Alternatively the moulded product may be dewatered and dried to leather hardness by heating the mould and subjecting the product to treatment with hot air. In Fig. 1b (not shown) the upper mould part is removed after injection and the moulded article dried by hot air nozzles. The porous mould may comprise copper and/or aluminium powder with a phenolic, melamine or urea resin binder. The ceramic paste may be heated prior to injection, e.g. by a screw type injector. The moulded article may be a cup moulded integrally with a handle.
