955,497. Moulding reinforced plastic products. COMPTOIR LINIER. Feb. 16, 1962 [March 14, 1961], No. 6161/62. Heading B5A. A process for moulding a reinforced plastic product comprises distributing a powdered incompletely condensed phenol-formaldehyde resin within a fleece or felt consisting predominantly of jute or flax fibres and moulding to the required shape whilst completing the condensation of the resin. Jute is chopped to a required length e.g. 2 to 5 cm., and is dried to a humidity of 4 to 6%, the fibres then being formed into a fleece. The fleece is sprinkled with a powdered incompletely condensed phenol-formaldehyde resin, and then converted to the form of a needlefelt, which is then cut into workpieces of the appropriate size and moulded in a heated press thus completing the condensation of the resin. Alternatively a fleece may be formed into a needle-felt, cut to the required size and one out of every two pieces formed sprinkled with resin, a second non-sprinkled piece placed on the first and the sandwich so obtained placed in a heated press to fuse the resin and then transferred to a heated moulding press to complete the condensation of the resin.
