Abstract

1275280 Calcium phosphate CHEMISCHE FABRIK KALK GmbH 31 July 1969 [1 Aug 1968] 38512/69 Heading C1A Free flowing calcium phosphate is produced by spraying a moving bed of calcium oxide or hydroxide, anhydrous dicalcium phosphate or dicalcium phosphate dihydrate at 30-150‹ C. with sufficient phosphoric acid (45-60% wt. P 2 O 5 ) to provide a CaO : P 2 O 5 ratio of 1À15 to 1À5 : 1. The product is allowed to mature at 15‹ to 30‹ C. or dried at 80‹ to 150‹ C. If reaction temperatures of 30‹ to 70‹ C. are used then the hydrated form of the phosphate is formed, whereas temperatures of 110‹ to 150‹ C. produce the anhydrous form. Drying at 110‹ to 150‹ C. also produces the anhydrous form. The moving bed may be formed in a mixer of the double roller, granulating drum, granulating plate or fluidized bed type. The product is an animal feeding supplement, and the phosphoric acid used must contain less than 0À15% F and 10 p.p.m. As.
