Abstract
1354772 Calcium oxide RHEINISCHE KALKSTEINWERKE GmbH 20 May 1971 [20 May 1970] 15977/71 Heading C1A Super-reactive calcium oxide is produced by decomposing calcium carbonate having a grain size of less than 200 Á, in a dry air stream with a CO 2 -partial pressure which amounts at most to 40% of the CO 2 -equilibrium pressure level corresponding to the formation of the superreactive CaO as shown in curve II of Fig. 1, and the decomposition is carried out at a temperature of from 850‹ to 900‹ C. and the quantity of heat required for the deacidification is delivered shockwise to the calcium carbonate. The reaction may be carried out in a fluidized bed of a hot granular material.
