Calcium hydrosilicates are produced by reacting lime and silica in approximately equivalent quantities under pressure, at a temperature above 200‹ C., the lime and silica having 10- 40% of water, by weight, based on the starting materials gradually added to them in a sealed grinding unit, whilst the reactants and products are simultaneously size-reduced. Calcium hydrosilicates may be added to the starting materials as mineralizers. The product may be briquetted and calcined to form wollastonite or pigments.
