Abstract
1328922 Preparation of glass batches; treating Na 2 CO 3 CHEMISCHE FABRIK KALK GmbH 19 April 1971 [27 Jan 1970] 20344/71 Headings C1A and C1M Dry, free-running granular material substantially consisting of sodium carbonate and sodium hydroxide is prepared by spraying an aqueous sodium hydroxide, with an NaOH content of 30-80% by weight on to a moving bed of anhydrous sodium carbonate. The sodium carbonate is at a temperature of 100-300‹ C., preferably 200-270‹ C. 40-60 Parts by weight of the granular material thus prepared are blended with 60-40 parts by weight of quartz, sand, calcium carbonate or a mixture of these constituents to form a glass batch.
