Abstract
In a process for the production of synthetic foamed resins, a mono-, di- or trimethylol ketone or a mixture thereof is first precondensed by the method described in the patent Specification and then foamed and/or hardened by the addition of catalytic amounts of a 10 to 60% aqueous solution of sodium or potassium hydroxide; 1.5 to 5.0 parts by weight of pure sodium or potassium hydroxide are used, in the form of a 10 to 60% aqueous solution, per 100 parts by weight of precondensate.
