Abstract

1,271,126. Barium and strontium carbonates. PAKISTAN COUNCIL OF SCIENTIFIC & INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH. 24 Oct., 1969, No. 52349/69. Heading C1A. Barium and strontium sulphates are converted directly into the corresponding carbonates by heating them at a pressure of 35-45 p.s.i.g. with a soluble carbonate, e.g. sodium carbonate, in an aqueous medium. The weight ratio of metal sulphate to sodium carbonate is preferably 1 : 4 or 1 : 2 for barium or strontium respectively. The pressure may be generated by heating to 150-160‹ C. in an autoclave.
