Abstract

1437063 Preparation of heavy soda HOECHST AG 24 April 1974 [26 April 1973] 17872/74 Heading C1A Calcined, heavy soda with a bulk weight of 1-6 kg./l. is prepared from sodium hydroxide and carbon dioxide by spraying aqueous sodium hydroxide solution, e.g. of from 50-75% strength, on to a moving solid bed or fluidized bed of soda particles covered with a gas containing carbon dioxide at a temperature of above 112‹ C., and the growing soda particles are passed through alternate compression and decompression zones, which compressions are caused, e.g. by employing at least one mechanical screw device.
