Abstract
Process for obtaining zeolite a with a crystal size essentially between 0.1 and microns, by hydrothermal reaction of calcined kaolin with aqueous alkaline hydroxides, characterized in that the kaolin is sprayed in a heated gas stream at a temperature of about 600ºC up to 1000ºC and, after a residence time in this gaseous stream of about 0.01 to 5 seconds, it is suspended at a temperature above 300ºC in an aqueous solution containing about 4 to 20% by weight of sodium hydroxide and the suspension the resultant is maintained for about 0.5 to 6 hours at a temperature between about 70ºC to 100º c.
