Abstract

Granular, free-flowing Ca phosphate having a molar ratio CaO : P2O5 of between 1 and 2 is made by injecting into a mobile bed of CaO or Ca(OH)2 a portion of phosphoric acid of 40-60% by wt. P2O5 at high temp. so as to give a mole ratio CaO : P2O5 of is approx. 2, followed by cooling to at least 60 degrees and then injecting more acid to a mole ratio CaO : P2O5 of 1.0-1.5 and pref. 1.2. The products have high absorption and high storage stability as feed supplements and good compatibility with other constituents.
