Abstract

1,274,851. Hydraulic apparatus. R. P. SMITH. June 11, 1969 [March 13, 1968], No. 12160/68. Heading F1P. A hydraulic system comprises a plurality of devices 1, 2, 3 having working chambers variable in volume by rotation of their respective shafts 4, 5, 6 through change gears 7-12, the resultant to and fro movement of liquid in a line 19 connected to the chambers being used to inpart movement to a piston 15 in a cylinder 16. As shown, the opposite end of the cylinder 16 is connected by a line 21 to further working chambers variable in volume inversely with respect to the first mentioned working chambers. The chambers are variable in volume by reciprocating pistons possibly sealed by rolling diaphragms and driven by an adjustable swash-plate or crank mechanism. Leakage from the chambers is returned through a line 26 to a tank 27 from which make-up fluid is fed to the lines 19, 21 by a pump 22 under the control of a valve 23.
