Abstract

127,478. Phillips, C. O. Sept. 6, 1918. Fatty oils, extracting by pressure. Before expressing oil from ground cotton seed, the ground seed is intimately mixed with a small amount of dilute alkali carbonate solution and cooked. The solution may be of the strength of one ounce of sodium carbonate or one-tenth of a pound of sodium bicarbonate to a gallon of water, and about three gallons of solution are sprayed upon, or otherwise intimately mixed with, a ton of the ground seed.
